The State of California recognized Ventura for reducing the amount of waste the city sent to the landfill by 70 percent.

Each year, Ventura recycles enough to save 324,000 trees by recycling paper, saves enough energy to provide the energy needs of 5,300 households, and reduces greenhouse gas emissions to the equivalent of removing 7,400 cars from the road.
