Map showing this city's location

Irondequoit was one of the first cities in the country to sign the U.S. Conference of Mayors Climate Protection Agreement to advance the goals of the Kyoto Protocol.

The Irondequoit Environmental Sustainability Advisory Council, created in 2008, is the primary advisor on environmental issues, and is made up of an all-volunteer board with experience ranging from law to green building to science. Among its accomplishments are an expanded farmer's market, acquiring investment in green infrastructure such as multi-modal transportation and sewer improvements, and getting energy-efficient lightbulbs installed in street lamps.
