Although much of California is known for smog, Santa Cruz County has consistently clean air when it comes to ozone and short-term particle pollution.
The City of Santa Cruz generates enough renewable energy to account for the equivalent of 33 percent of the energy used by city facilities, and it also purchases 13 percent renewable from PG&E. This clean energy keeps dirty fossil-fuel emissions out of the air.
Santa Cruz recently implemented a climate action program that includes the goal of 80 percent less greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
